International Rural Sociology Association - IRSA
The program committee for the XII World Congress of Rural Sociology accepted abstract submissions for individual papers, posters, and working groups. Thirty-seven working groups were organized around the central theme of the Congress—the exploration of the economic, socio-cultural, political, and environmental context, and challenges, facing rural communities throughout the world. Particular emphasis was placed on uncovering strategies and mechanisms that rural citizens can utilize to engage in a self-determined form of development.
Working group chairs, in coordination with the program committee, made the final determination as to whether any particular abstract was accepted for that particular working group. Many of the papers and posters presented at the XII World Congress are available in the papers section of this Web site.
