Call for Papers

The program committee for the XII World Congress of Rural Sociology is pleased to announce that abstract submissions for individual papers are now being accepted for the XII World Congress which will be held at the KINTEX Center in Goyang, Korea from July 6th through the 11th, 2008. To submit your abstract, please click on "abstract submission" which is located in the left hand column of this page. Anyone wishing to present an individual paper must submit their abstract electronically via the IRSA web site. Those submitting abstracts also should note that they must select a working group for their abstract. Working group chairs, in coordination with the program committee, will make the final determination as to whether any particular abstract will be accepted for that particular working group.

The central theme of the Congress will be the exploration of the economic, socio-cultural, political, and environmental context, and challenges, facing rural communities throughout the world. Particular emphasis is being placed on uncovering strategies and mechanisms that rural citizens can utilize to engage in a self-determined form of development.

If anyone has any questions regarding the submission process, please contact Raymond Jussaume, the deputy program chair.
